Shade Thomas-Fahm, born Victoria Omọ́rọ́níkẹ Àdùkẹ́ Fọlashadé Thomas (but known colloquially and professionally as "Shadé Thomas"), is regarded as "Nigeria's first modern fashion designer” and "one of Africa's most important designers, and a pioneering figure in Nigerian fashion" She was the first fashion designer to open a fashion boutique in Nigeria and subsequently opened a number of boutiques at various locations. Shade Thomas Fahm brought attention to the Nigerian fashion industry. Her influence on Nigerian fashion has endured since the 60s to date, within Nigeria and abroad. "Her fervor and creativity laid the foundation for the fashion industry, while she also inspired a plethora of designers to pursue their passion."
