Shaku Kōnen (釈 興然, May 6, 1849 – March 15, 1924) was a Japanese Shingon and Theravāda Buddhist monk from Izumo Province (modern-day Shimane Prefecture). He is known as the first Japanese Theravāda Buddhist. His bhikkhu name was Gunaratana, and his secular surname was Itagaki.
