Suba Veerapandian is the author of Karunchattai Tamilar, a bimonthly magazine. He has written around 21 books in the field of Tamil literature, politics and history. He was born in Karaikudi. His father, Karaikudi Subbiah, was an MLA and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party. Director S. P. Muthuraman is his elder brother.
