#VintageStyle | From the moment he saw her he knew he had to have her. He was Israel "Izzy" Lang (pictured), a 6-foot-1, 200 + pound running back for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a sharp dresser who took pride in his wardrobe as well as his material items -- items that included diamond wristwatches, gold rings, gold chains, fancy cars and a plush apartment. But Izzy needed a pretty woman on his arm to match his pretty possessions. And that's where Taazmayia (whom everyone called Taaz) came into the picture. She was a smart and funny woman who had an ear for listening. And when she met Izzy she listened to his dreams of one day becoming a successful entrepreneur. Izzy's entrepreneurial spirit started to rub off on Taaz, who began dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur herself one day. The two exchanged wedding vows and moved into a spacious home Izzy purchased for them. But the marriage was rocky from the beginning. Amidst rumors of infidelity (on Izzy's part) the couple separated. Taaz remained in the home they shared while Izzy moved out. Izzy's life, however, spiraled out of control after the separation, as he was arrested numerous times for bank fraud (forging checks). He would eventually lose everything and end up on the streets homeless, while Taaz would prosper after the separation by becoming one of the most popular hair stylists in Philadelphia. She often did the hair of celebrities such as Nancy Wilson, Lola Falana and Dionne Warwick. She also gained recognition for turning her mother's beauty salon (where she worked) into a successful family enterprise -- a feat that did not go unnoticed by Teddy Pendergrass. Teddy started to pursue Taaz until he eventually won her over. He moved into her home and became like a step father to her son. Teddy begged Taaz to manage his career, as she was one of the smartest women he had ever met. Taaz agreed to do so and began putting plans in motion to launch his solo career, but it was a solo career she would never get to see -- and that's because in April of 1977, someone put a bullet in her just two months before Teddy's album was released.
