""Beautiful best-selling vegan author Kathy Freston had an affair with a woman after splitting with her husband of 14 years, ex-Viacom chief Tom Freston, multiple sources confirmed to Page Six. We’re told Kathy — described by the Times as “tall, slim and golden-tressed enough to be mistaken for a movie star” — embarked on the lesbian relationship following her breakup with Tom, which was announced in June last year.
Kathy rubs elbows with Hollywood’s elite crowd and is a leading figure in the LA vegan community. She counts Ellen DeGeneres, Arianna Huffington, Katie Lee Joel, and Dr. Mehmet Oz and his wife, Lisa, as close friends.
A source tells us: “Kathy has appeared on Ellen’s show and has become very friendly with her crowd. It is well-known in those circles that Kathy embarked on a relationship with a woman called Pam.” The source added, “Kathy is happy and has never looked better.”
After numerous requests for comment, Kathy responded by e-mail late last night, saying, “As flattering as that is, it’s not true.”
Kathy and Tom announced their 2012 split with a joint statement, which read, “We’ve been together for 17 years, 14 of them married. We’ve mutually agreed to a period of separation. We love each other very much, and are moving forward with good will and kindness.”
But another source tells us the good will has faded as the divorce negotiations between the power couple have been dragged out over money. We’re told, “Their divorce is still not settled, and negotiations are getting thorny.”
Tom, a former CEO of MTV Networks, walked away from Viacom in 2006 with an $85 million package. He is a principal at consulting and investment firm Firefly3 and a consultant to Vice Media.
Former model Kathy is the author of “The Lean: A Revolutionary 30-Day Plan for Healthy, Lasting Weight Loss” and a vegan blog. Her lawyer, Louis I. Newman, didn’t respond to phone calls or e-mails for comment.
