Thomas 'Tom' Vlassis is the current Des Moines City Councilman for Ward I. Tom was elected to the Des Moines City Council (Ward One) in April 1989, after having served on the City's Plan and Zoning Commission for five years. Prior to the commission appointment, Tom was involved in international cultural and educational programs on behalf of the City.
