Muhammad Umer Chapra (Urdu: محمد عمر چھاپرا, Arabic: محمد عمر شابرا; 1 February 1933 – 13 June 2026) was a Pakistani-Saudi economist. He served as Advisor at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Prior to this position, he worked at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), Riyadh, for nearly 35 years, first as Economic Advisor and later as Senior Economic Advisor.
