Walter E. Baethgen (born February 16, 1955) is a Uruguayan scientist. His research focuses on the impact of climate variability and change on the agricultural industry. Baethgen is currently a Senior Research Scientist and Acting Director of the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) of Columbia University's Climate School and the Vice-president of the National Agricultural Research Institute (INIA) of Uruguay.
