According to Ebony Magazine's March 1984 Issue, Ford Model Wanakee was married to photographer Arthur Legardy at the time. Further investigation turns up an engagement announcement from October of 1981 in a Michigan newspaper. "Engagement Announcement: Charles and Inez Reynolds happily announce the engagement of their daughter Wanakee Rene Pugh, to Arthur Legardy III, son of Mrs. Marie Legardy and the late Mr. Arthur Legardy, Sr. Mr. Arthur Legardy III, the groom-to-be, is a photographer of Detroit Michigan. The bride-to-be is a resident of New York City where she is a Ford Agency Model. An October, 1981 Wedding is being planned." At some point, the couple divorced, and Wanakee retired from modeling to live in the Midwest and work as a fine artist/painter/interior designer.
