William Henry Scott (July 10, 1921 – October 4, 1993) was a historian of the Gran Cordillera Central and Prehispanic Philippines. Although he authored at least 243 works in several fields, he is best known for the 1994 cultural history bestseller "Barangay: Sixteenth-century Philippine Culture and Society," which was being pressed into publication when he died; and two seminal academic books - 1968's "A Critical Study of the Prehispanic Source Materials for the Study of Philippine History," and 1974's"The Discovery of the Igorots: Spanish Contacts with the Pagans of Northern Luzon"
