William J. Gibson (died September 9, 1863) was an American physician, politician, and Wisconsin pioneer.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Senate (1855 & 1856) and State Assembly (1854) representing a large swathe of the then-lightly populated northwest Wisconsin.
He was one of dozens of lawmakers in the 1856 session caught up in the La Crosse and Milwaukee Railroad bribery scheme.
He died of disease while serving as a Union Army officer in the American Civil War.
