William Edward Spriggs (1955 – June 6, 2023) was an American economist who worked as chair of the Howard University Department of Economics from 2005 to 2009 and assistant secretary of labor for policy from 2009 to 2012. He was also a professor of economics at Howard University and chief economist for the AFL-CIO.
