Yasin Zia is the current acting Minister of Defence. He was the governor of Takhar Province in Afghanistan from October 2015 to May 2017. He was promoted to Deputy Defense Minister on March 27, 2019, and became the Army Chief of Staff in 2020. Zia has also served as the deputy director general of NDS for operations.
