Yusef Salaam (born 1974) is an American politician, motivational speaker, and activist. He is the Democratic nominee for the 9th City Council District of New York City in the 2023 elections. Salaam was one of the Central Park Five who were wrongfully accused and convicted of raping a white woman in Central Park in 1989.
