David Tennant met actress Sophia Myles, when she appeared with him in the Doctor Who episode "The Girl in the Fireplace" as Madame de Pompadour. They started dating after filming in October 2005. Their relationship was frequently mentioned in the UK press - however, the two tried to keep their private life as private as possible and only confirmed their relationship in a few interviews but never agreed to openly talk about it.
However in October 2007 Tennant was reported to have finished the relationship over the phone, blaming the lack of time the couple had spent together following Myles` move to Los Angeles.
Myles was devastated when Tennant called time on their two-year love-affair. In 2006 Myles told how happy she was with Tennant and said she wanted to start a family with him.
