Demi and Joe met when she actually auditioned for the Disney series Jonas way back in 2007. She didn't end up getting the part but she wound up starring with the Jonas Brothers anyway in the Camp Rock movies. Demi admitted to having a crush on Joe for years before they dated, and recently said she wrote "Gonna Get Caught" about how she thought Joe was a player.
However, by February 2010, fans noticed that their relationship seemed to be getting a lot closer when Joe started attending tapings of Sonny With A Chance in his free time. Someone spotted them out on a dinner date on March 12th 2010, and Demi spilled the news herself the next morning in a radio interview.
By May 24th 2010, Demi took to twitter to make a statement about their break-up, and Joe told Teen Vogue, "It could have been better timing, but there’s never really a good time for something like that,"
and People "I realize over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now. It was my choice to break up but I love her as a friend."
They remained as friends, although Demi supposedly wrote "Fix a Heart," "Without The Love," and "Really Don't Care" about their break-up.
