Edward Kobina Enninful OBE (born February 1972) is Editor-In-Chief of British Vogue and a longtime advocate for more diversity and better representation in the fashion industry. Ghanaian-born Enninful began his career as Fashion Director of British youth culture magazine i-D at age 18, the youngest ever to have been named an editor at a major international fashion title, and a position he held for over two decades. He subsequently held the positions of Contributing Fashion Editor at Vogue Italia and American Vogue, as well as Creative Fashion Director at W Magazine. In 2017, Enninful was appointed Editor in Chief of British Vogue, making him the only Black editor in history to head any of the 26 Vogue magazines, and where he has continued his career-long work to bring more inclusivity and representation to the industry. During his tenure at British Vogue, Enninful has been a force for change in representing more diverse cover stars, featuring the likes of Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, Adwoa Aboah, Naomi Campbell and Rihanna. He has also given a voice and platform to a new generation of photographers as well. Enninful commissioned Misan Harriman to photograph the September 2020 cover, making him the first Black male photographer to shoot a British Vogue cover in its 104-year history. Most recently, he collaborated with Kennedi Carter to photograph Beyoncé for the November 2020 cover. Carter, at 21, became the youngest photographer in British Vogue history to shoot a cover story for the magazine. Enninful, who was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2016 for his services to diversity in the fashion industry, has received numerous accolades during his career. In September 2020, Enninful was featured on the cover of Time Magazine, who named him the most important Black man in the global fashion landscape.
