Jeremy was a wonderful writer and a lovely poet. He loved to read, but writing was his passion. He was very sad when he could no longer accomplish, daily, the San Franscisco Chronicle jigsaw puzzle. He was always tickled to see fan mail and always responded proudly. When his friends heard that he could no longer read letters, they began sending him cassettes with their words on it. It was fabulous and he was thrilled. He really got a kick out of being Jeremy Slate. He adored his family and his beloved Redwoods. He smiled most the time and I miss that very much.

I was married to Jeremy for several years while living in Big Sur, california. We wrote together and produced a novel Odyssey the story of Jeremy as a teen age sailor at Normandy. He had this great recall and I convinced him to tap it out on his manual typewriter, which he loved, while he could still see. This was months before he went blind with macular degeneration. Together we worked his first draft. wI was his eyes and his wife, his friend. When he could no longer see, I wrote while he spoke.
