Alfred "Lash" LaRue (June 15, 1917 – May 21, 1996) was a popular western motion picture star of the 1940s and 1950s. He had exceptional skill with the bullwhip and was one of the main inspirations for the character of Indiana Jones. LaRue was one of the first recipients of the Golden Boot Awards in 1983.

I knew Lash LaRue. He was a kind man, who loved his fans. I met him in 1988, we had dinner about 20 times over the years. He wrote me a letter about 6 months before his death, telling me he had moved to California, and he thought the move would prolong his life. He always went out of his way to be nice my wife and I. I am honored to say he was my friend.
