Tomorrow is your birthday Van, and even though you are no longer with us, I will always remember you and the day I met you. I got to put my hands in yours at the Graman`s Theatre a couple of weeks ago and it was such a thrill for me. My friend reminded me when I told her I found your square Hey you got to met the real man, and he kissed you! Rest in peace my dear friend.

He was my idol - during my teen years. He was a hunk! Wish I had seen him on stage.

I love Van Johnson so much and was crushed when he died. It is sad that all of the Golden Hollywood stars are very old or dying. I heard Van Johnson say on TCM Thank goodness for the bobby-soxers. Without them I would be nothing. It is wonderful how he appreciated his fans unlike the stars of today.

No matter his personal preferences if the rumors are true, he gave great joy to those who loved to watch him act. His portrayals were always of one who loves, one whose love makes him vulnerable How great a man to love..

It seems only yesterday I met Van and now it seems impossible for him to be gone from our visable senses...but I know he is in paradise. Schuyler, you have all of my heart felt condolences...

An alltime favorite has gone; but he will continue to have new fans as they become exposed to his great charisma and natural acting. Rest well, dear man! You gave your best; and we will always remember!

Oh, how much of a FAN I was of the great Van Johnson! He helped me through my rough times, as a young teen-ager, just by being there on the "silver Screen." Amazing, isn`t it, that someone you have never actually met, can have the effect of almost saving your life, just by his virtual "presence" and charismatic peronna on a movie screen. Van really did hypnotize a generation of girls who grew up in the war years, the WWII years of "The Greatest Generation." Van symbolized the boys/men of those years more than almost any other Hollywood Star. I am so grateful to have "known" him! Bless him, always.

My heart is breaking to learn of Van`s passing. He brought me so much joy over my life; my fondest memories include his dancing with Lucille Ball and his breathtakingly poignant work in `Miracle in the Rain`. Van, you were one of the great ones who could do it all: drama, comedy, song and dance. I`ll miss you with all my heart and pray for your eternal peace. I love you.
