Taylor Swift and One Direction’s then member Harry Styles first met at the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards on March 31, 2012. Although there were rumors going on, apparently nothing happened between them back then. Over the year, Harry was linked to several women while Taylor had a summer affair with Conor Kennedy. After Taylor and Conor broke up, it seems that she began a relationship with Harry rather quickly, as they went out to a dinner with a couple of mutual friends, including Ed Sheeran, after the VMA’s in early September. They were confirmed to be dating in December, after they were spotted getting cozy at the Central Park in New York City. Their relationship didn’t last long though, as they split up a few weeks after a New Year’s trip to the British Virgin Islands.
Not much was known about Harry and Taylor’s relationship until October 2014, when Taylor released her fifth album “1989” which the main topic was her relationship with Harry. Most well-known songs about him includes “Style”, “Out of The Woods”, “All You Had to do Was Stay”, “Wildest Dreams” and “I Know Places”. A year later, One Direction’s single “Perfect” was released, and the media quickly speculated the song was a response to Taylor’s songs. There was no confirmation, but Harry didn’t deny those rumors either.
In April 2017, Harry publicly talked about his relationship with Taylor for the first time for the magazine Rolling Stone, and mentioned the fact she has written songs about him: “I write from my experiences; everyone does that. I’m lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs. That’s what hits your heart. That’s the stuff that’s hardest to say, and it’s the stuff I talk least about. That’s the part that’s about the two people. I’m never going to tell anybody everything.”
Harry’s debut solo album, released in May 2017, includes “Two Ghosts”, a song heavily speculated to be about Taylor.
